A South River man has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery at a local computer repair business last month, while police continue searching for a second suspect, according to information released by the South River Police Department.
Authorities said Fernando Ramos-Garcia, 30, was taken into custody on Thursday at a residence on Burton Avenue.
He has been charged with robbery, aggravated assault, and weapons-related offenses.
Police said the incident occurred around 6:45 p.m. on January 2, when two masked men entered ML Computer Repair on Main Street.
Investigators said one suspect was armed with a firearm, while the second threatened an employee with pepper spray before spraying the worker in the face.
The suspects then fled the business with cash and additional property belonging to both the store and the employee.
Detectives were able to identify Ramos-Garcia using surveillance footage and through assistance from neighboring Sayreville police, who are investigating a similar robbery in their jurisdiction.

Ramos-Garcia remains held at the Middlesex County Jail. Court records show his pre-indictment conference is scheduled for March 12. Attorney information was not immediately available.
Police said the investigation remains active as they work to identify and locate the second suspect involved in the robbery.
