Authorities in Middlesex County announced that a South Brunswick man has been charged in connection with the homicide that occurred on December 7, 2025, in the Township of South Brunswick.

Middlesex County officials stated that on December 7, 2025, at approximately 10:41 a.m., authorities received a call requesting a welfare check.
Upon their arrival at a residence on Redwood Court, officers located Veronica Jones, 47, of South Brunswick, unresponsive, MCPO officials say. Thereafter, Veronica Jones was pronounced deceased at the scene.
According to Middlesex County officials, the initial investigation led by Detective Jamal Benbow of the South Brunswick Police Department and Detective Javier Morillo of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office determined that Khadir Jones, 25, of South Brunswick, was the alleged perpetrator of the conduct that caused the death of Veronica Jones.
Moreover, the decedent and the perpetrator knew each other, thus it was not a random act of violence, MCPO officials said.
Khadir Jones was previously arrested on December 7, 2025, without incident and charged with second-degree Desecration of Human Remains, MCPO authorities say.
Middlesex County officials stated that on February 3, Jones was charged with first-degree Murder. Jones is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center pending the results of his Pre-Trial detention hearing.

Anyone with information or surveillance footage of the area is asked to call Detective Benbow of the South Brunswick Police Department at 732-329-4646 or Detective Javier Morillo of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at 732-745-4274.
