We are slowly getting a bit warmer across New Jersey, but there’s nothing to really celebrate just yet.
While temperatures are improving compared to the brutal weekend cold, we’re still waking up well below freezing, with early-morning readings stuck in the single digits.
Good morning, New Jersey. If you’re heading out around 4:30 a.m., it is still frigid out there.
Temperatures today in Newark and across much of North Jersey will hover just below freezing, but don’t let that fool you; wind chills will make it feel closer to 2 degrees at times.
All the winter gear is still necessary this morning, so bundle up before stepping outside.
According to the National Weather Service, today will be sunny with a high near 31 degrees.
Wind chill values will range from 0 to 10 degrees, with northwest winds between 8 and 10 miles per hour.
Tonight will remain cold but calmer, with mostly clear skies and lows around 12 degrees. Winds will shift west at 3 to 6 miles per hour.
