A Deptford man has been arrested and charged after authorities say he attempted to meet what he believed was an underage boy for the purpose of engaging in sexual activity following online communications.
According to information released by the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, Joseph J. Catrambone, 38, is facing multiple criminal charges, including first-degree attempted manufacturing of child sexual abuse material, second-degree attempting to lure a minor, and second-degree attempted sexual assault of a minor.
Additional charges include attempted endangering the welfare of a child, attempting to send obscene material to a minor, and attempted criminal sexual contact of a minor.
Authorities said the investigation began on January 7, 2026, when Catrambone initiated online communication with a person he believed to be a 14-year-old boy.
Investigators later determined the individual was actually an undercover detective assigned to the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crimes Unit.
During the online exchanges, prosecutors said Catrambone sent explicit images of himself, discussed sexual acts, and requested explicit photographs in return.
Officials allege that he later arranged to meet the individual at a specific location with the intent of engaging in sexual activity.
Later that same day, Catrambone was taken into custody without incident at a pre-arranged meeting location in Collingswood.
He was subsequently remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility pending further court proceedings.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information related to this case is urged to contact Sergeant John Cochran of the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crimes Unit.
