Good morning, New Jersey.

A cold weather advisory remains in effect throughout the day as we start off clear but extremely cold, with wind chills dipping into the single digits across Newark and much of North Jersey.

In downtown Newark, temperatures are sitting at 17 degrees as city students remain out of school for a second day.

The closure follows Sunday’s powerful winter storm, which dumped close to a foot of snow across parts of the city and forced thousands of school cancellations statewide.

According to the National Weather Service, conditions today will be mostly sunny but cold, with a high near 19 degrees.

Wind chill values will range between -5 and 5 degrees, with southwest winds at 8 to 13 mph and gusts reaching up to 23 mph.

Tonight, skies will remain mostly clear with lows around 7 degrees.
