The Hillside NAACP will host a wreath-laying ceremony honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday, January 19, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.
The ceremony will be held at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial located inside Charlotte Defillipo Park, directly across the street from Hillside High School.
Community members, civic leaders, and residents are invited to attend the solemn observance, which will reflect on Dr. King’s enduring commitment to justice, equality, and service.
“Dr. King’s legacy continues to challenge us to stand firm in the pursuit of justice and equality for all,” said Nicole Graves-Watson, Founder and President of the Hillside NAACP.
“This annual remembrance ensures that his message remains alive in our community and inspires future generations to lead with courage and compassion.”
Organizers say the wreath-laying ceremony serves not only as a tribute to Dr. King’s extraordinary life, but also as a call to action, reaffirming a commitment to advancing civil rights and strengthening the community through unity and service.
The Hillside NAACP encourages the public to attend and take part in reflecting on Dr. King’s lasting impact and vision for a more just and equitable society.
