A pedestrian has died from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle collision that occurred earlier this month in Harrison, according to Hudson County authorities.

Wayne Mello said the crash happened on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at approximately 3:30 p.m. when two pedestrians were struck on Woodland Drive near West Hudson Park.
Responding officers from the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office located two male victims at the scene.
Both were transported to University Hospital with serious injuries. Authorities said the driver involved and the striking vehicle remained at the scene following the collision.
One of the victims, Gary Gross, 58, of Kearny, later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on Thursday, January 15, 2026.
The second victim, a 48-year-old man from Kearny, remains hospitalized in stable condition.
The incident remains under active investigation by the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit in coordination with the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities have not released additional details at this time as the investigation continues.
