We are waking up on the mild and warmer side this Thursday morning in January, but don’t let that fool you, winter will make a strong return later today.

Good morning. If you’re heading out the door early, whether it’s to the bus stop or to work, it’s currently 45 degrees in Newark.
That’s just a touch cooler than yesterday, but still mild for this time of year.
You’ll want to bundle up a bit this morning, especially if you’re out before sunrise.
Enjoy the milder start while it lasts, because temperatures will begin dropping sharply this afternoon.
By later in the day, it will feel much more like January, so don’t leave that coat at home.
Winds will also pick up as the day goes on, with gusts reaching close to 30 miles per hour. The good news is most of the day stays dry.
According to the National Weather Service, there’s a chance of showers before 7 a.m., followed by a chance of sprinkles between 7 and 10 a.m.
Skies turn partly sunny later, but temperatures will steadily fall, dropping to around 33 degrees by 5 p.m. Wind chill values will make it feel colder, between 25 and 35 degrees.
Tonight, expect mostly cloudy skies with lows around 21 degrees. Winds remain breezy, and wind chills will dip into the teens, making it feel even colder overnight.
Have a great day, NJ!
