House Damaged by Gunfire During Shots Fired Incident in Newark’s South Ward

Police in Newark are investigating a shots fired incident that caused property damage in the city’s South Ward Wednesday night.

According to reports , officers responded just before 7:25 p.m. to reports of gunfire in the area of 286 West Runyon Street. 

When units arrived on scene, they immediately secured the area after discovering close to a dozen shell casings scattered on the ground.

 

Following a search of the surrounding neighborhood, officers located a nearby residence that had been struck by gunfire. 

Fortunately, no one inside the home was injured.

 

The suspect fled the scene before police arrived and remains at large. At this time, investigators have not determined the intended target of the shooting.
