Police have arrested a Bergen County man accused of throwing a rock into a school bus traveling on the New Jersey Turnpike, seriously injuring an 8-year-old girl.

Authorities say the incident occurred just after 2 p.m. Wednesday in the northbound lanes of the New Jersey Turnpike near the Teaneck Road exit in Teaneck Township.
The bus was transporting students from Yeshivat Noam back to school following a field trip to the Liberty Science Center.
Investigators say a rock roughly the size of a baseball was thrown from the roadside, shattering a bus window and striking a third-grade girl in the head.
The child suffered a fractured skull and remained hospitalized as of Friday. No other students or staff on the bus were injured.
Police identified the suspect as Hernando Garciamorales, 40, of Palisades Park.
He has been charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, endangering the welfare of a child, criminal mischief, resisting arrest by flight, and hindering.
Authorities said Garciamorales was arrested at a self-made campsite located within Overpeck County Park.
During the investigation, police also linked him to multiple rock-throwing incidents reported in Bogota Borough.
The investigation remains ongoing.
