Authorities are searching for a driver who fled the scene after striking a pedestrian Friday evening in Newark.
According to Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Newark police responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle at approximately 5:06 p.m. on Friday, December 19.
The incident occurred at the intersection of Clinton Avenue and Murray Street.
Responding officers located an adult male who had been struck by a vehicle while it was making a right turn onto Murray Street.
The victim complained of pain at the scene and was transported to University Hospital for evaluation. Authorities said he was reported to be in stable condition.
The driver involved in the crash did not remain at the scene and fled before the officers’ arrival.
The incident remains under active investigation by the Newark Police Department.
