Authorities in Middlesex County announced today that a Piscataway man was arrested and charged with Sexual Assault.

Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone stated that on December 1st, the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office was alerted by the New Jersey Department of Corrections Special Investigations Division that two inmates reported that a Correctional Police Officer sexually assaulted them over the past weekend.
An investigation led by Detective Christopher Van Eerde and Detective Tammy Colonna of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit, along with Investigator Sean Smith of the New Jersey Department of Corrections Special Investigations Division, determined that Correctional Police Officer Anthony Nelson, 37, of Piscataway, sexually assaulted two inmates while supervising the inmates at the Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center in Avenel, MCPO officials said.
According to Middlesex County officials, on December 15th, Correctional Police Officer Anthony Nelson was arrested without incident and charged with two counts of second-degree Sexual Assault and two counts of fourth-degree Criminal Sexual Contact.
Anthony Nelson will be detained at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center awaiting a preliminary hearing before a Superior Court Judge, MCPO officials say. 
The investigation is active and ongoing.
