Overturned Dump Truck, Jackknifed Tractor-Trailer Cause Delays on NJ Turnpike in Kearny

New Jersey State Police are investigating a crash involving a jackknifed tractor-trailer and an overturned dump truck that caused delays on the New Jersey Turnpike early Friday morning.

According to NJ511, troopers were dispatched around 4:24 a.m. after receiving reports of a collision on the New Jersey Turnpike’s Western Spur northbound, just north of Interchange 15W near Interstate 280 in Kearny.
 

When responders arrived, they found a tractor-trailer that had jackknifed and a dump truck that had overturned, blocking the right shoulder of the roadway. 

Both drivers were able to safely exit their vehicles and were evaluated at the scene by emergency medical personnel. Police said the injuries were not believed to be serious.

 

The crash caused traffic delays along the Turnpike during the early-morning commute. No additional injuries were reported.

The cause of the crash remains under active investigation by New Jersey State Police.
