A 17-year-old male has been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in Jersey City earlier this month, authorities said.

According to the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, the juvenile was taken into custody on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at the Prosecutor’s Office and charged as a juvenile with aggravated manslaughter, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and tampering with physical evidence.
Due to the confidentiality of juvenile matters, no additional identifying information has been released.
The charges stem from a shooting reported shortly after 5:10 p.m. on Friday, December 12, 2025. Jersey City Police were called to an apartment on Rose Avenue after receiving a report of an injured male.
When officers arrived, they located a 16-year-old male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the upper body.
The victim was later identified as Al-Jahmir Curry, 16, of Pennsylvania. He was pronounced dead just before 5:30 p.m.
The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death to be a gunshot wound to the upper body and ruled the manner of death a homicide.
Acting Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello credited members of the Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department for their work in the investigation that led to the arrest.
The case remains ongoing.
