Newark and the North Jersey region are waking up to biting cold conditions Tuesday morning, with gusty winds making it feel even colder than the actual temperatures.
As of 4:30 a.m., temperatures are around 26 degrees near Bergen Street and 14th Avenue in Newark, but wind chills are hovering closer to 15 degrees with winds around 10 mph.
If you’re heading out early, it’s a brutally cold start to the day. Heavy winter gear, including coats, hats, gloves, and scarves, will be needed once again.
Skies will be partly cloudy this morning, with more sunshine expected later in the day. However, the sun will do little to ease the cold.
According to the National Weather Service, today will be sunny with a high near 33 degrees. Wind chill values will range between 15 and 25 degrees, with southwest winds between 3 and 6 mph.

Tonight will be mostly clear, with lows around 24 degrees. Wind chills will remain between 15 and 20 degrees.
