Good morning, New Jersey. Friends and families across Newark and the North Jersey region are waking up to dangerous cold conditions this morning.
Following the snowfall that dropped several inches across the area Saturday night into Sunday, frigid temperatures and icy conditions have settled in.
If you’re heading out around 4:30 a.m., be sure to bundle up with winter hats, scarves, gloves, and heavy coats.
Drivers are urged to use caution, as black ice is likely to form with temperatures remaining below freezing throughout the day, making roadways potentially treacherous.
Skies will be mostly clear with plenty of sunshine, but it won’t provide much warmth.
Temperatures will stay in the teens, with some areas dipping into the single digits.
In downtown Newark near Market Street and Edison Place, temperatures are around 20 degrees, but strong winds are making it feel closer to 9 degrees.
According to the National Weather Service, clouds will increase throughout the day with a high near 29 degrees.
Wind chill values will range between 5 and 15 degrees, with west winds around 10 mph and gusts up to 21 mph.
Tonight will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 19 degrees and west winds near 6 mph.
