Police in Newark are investigating a midday robbery that took place Friday at a Dunkin’ Donuts in the city’s North Ward.
Officers were called to the store located at 1393 McCarter Highway around 11:50 a.m. after receiving reports of a commercial robbery.
Initial information indicated that a tall Black male entered the business armed with a handgun before fleeing the scene on foot.
The suspect was first described as wearing a gray hoodie, but updated details later reported him wearing a black Nike jacket and black ACG boots. Cash was taken during the robbery.
Units from the 2nd Precinct responded to the location and canvassed nearby areas, including the 100 block of Broad Street, in an effort to track the suspect.
Robbery detectives have also been notified and are assisting with the investigation.
The incident remains under an active and ongoing investigation by Newark Police.
