Paterson police are investigating an attempted carjacking that occurred Thursday evening on Union Avenue.
The incident was reported shortly before 6:30 p.m. on the 200 block of Union Avenue, where the victim told officers that a male suspect displayed a handgun and tried to take their vehicle.
Police searched the surrounding area and located a man believed to be involved in the incident.
Officers also recovered a weapon and a shell casing along Paterson Avenue.
Authorities said the investigation is ongoing, and no serious injuries were reported.
