Cold Morning in Newark Kicks Off December Ahead of Tuesday Precipitation

Newark

By: Richard L. Smith

We’re waking up to another cold morning in Newark, and much of North Jersey is starting the week—and the month—on a frigid note.

Happy December, everybody. With Christmas about 24 days away, we begin this Monday under a sharp winter chill.

If you’re heading to the bus stop or out to work, bundle up. It’s 34 degrees on Bergen Street and South Orange Avenue in Newark, but the wind is making it feel closer to 25.

Heavy coats, gloves, and hats are definitely needed.

Today stays dry and sunny, but the sunshine won’t warm us up much.

Enjoy the break from the rain because tomorrow, parts of New Jersey fall under a winter weather alert with a mix of rain, freezing rain, and snow depending on your location.

Snow is expected mainly north and west of I-287, while Newark should see mostly rain Tuesday, though the morning could still be slick.

According to the National Weather Service, today brings sun with a high near 41 and light northwest winds.

Tonight, clouds increase with a slight chance of snow toward 4 a.m. and a low around 30.

Tuesday starts with rain and snow before turning to all rain by midmorning.

Bundle up and stay safe out there.
