A Hawthorne resident is facing several cyber-harassment charges after investigators linked him to a series of explicit online messages sent to multiple victims over the summer.
According to a statement released by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, 43-year-old Christopher J. Greig was taken into custody following a joint investigation by county detectives and the Glen Rock Police Department.

Officials said the case began in September 2025 when the Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit received reports of disturbing and obscene messages circulating online.

Investigators later determined that Greig had used the internet to send pornography and sexually explicit content to seven victims repeatedly between July and September of this year.

Following the investigation, authorities charged Greig on November 21 with seven counts of fourth-degree cyber-harassment. An arrest warrant was issued shortly afterward.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, Glen Rock Police located Greig on November 22 and took him into custody.

He was transported to the Bergen County Jail, where he remains pending his first appearance in Superior Court in Hackensack.

The investigation remains active as detectives continue reviewing digital evidence connected to the case.
