Middlesex County officials announced the launch of its new History Guide, a free, interactive initiative designed to encourage residents and visitors to step into the County’s revolutionary story.
The program encourages participants to explore historic landmarks, learn engaging stories from the Revolutionary period, and complete self-guided activities tied to real locations across the County, MCPO officials say. 
According to Middlesex County officials, this new community program builds on the success of the Bark Rangers and Junior Rangers programs.
The History Guide offers concise, engaging stories spanning from 1762 to 1783, accompanied by hands-on activities such as writing, drawing, and reflection, all designed to bring history to life, MCPO officials said.
Middlesex County officials say participants who complete the activities and submit photos of their work may be eligible to receive a special prize. Physical copies of the guide are available to Middlesex County residents, while a downloadable PDF version is accessible to all.
“Middlesex County is proud to offer a program that connects residents and visitors to the pivotal moments and figures that shaped our nation,” said Middlesex County Commissioner Director Ronald G. Rios.
“This initiative not only celebrates Middlesex County’s role in America’s fight for independence, but it also encourages families to engage with history through hands-on, interactive learning,” said Middlesex County Commissioner Charles E. Tomaro, Chair of the County’s Infrastructure Management Committee.
How to Participate in the Middlesex County History Guide:
-Request the Guide: Middlesex County residents can request a physical guide to be mailed to them at DiscoverMiddlesex.com/HistoryGuide, or download the PDF version.
-Explore Historic Sites: Visit landmarks such as Rutgers University, the Proprietary House, East Jersey Old Town Village, and Perth Amboy City Hall.
Complete Activities: Engage with self-guided prompts through writing, drawing, and reflection.
-Submit Your Work: Submit photos of completed activities online to be eligible for a special prize (residents only).
-Share Your Experience: Celebrate your discoveries and see others’ submissions online.
The History Guide program is open to Middlesex County residents for prize eligibility. Non-residents are welcome to download and enjoy the PDF guide; however, they are not eligible for the prize, according to Middlesex County officials.
