A Union County man who formerly worked as a New Jersey high school teacher has been sentenced to more than 22 years in federal prison for producing explicit images of minors, according to information released by Acting U.S. Attorney and Special Attorney Alina Habba.
Michael Hamilton, 53, previously pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Christine P. O’Hearn to one count related to creating explicit images of minors. Judge O’Hearn handed down the 275-month sentence in Camden federal court.
Court filings state that Hamilton admitted to meeting a minor victim, engaging in explicit conduct, and recording that conduct on video.
Investigators recovered a copy of the recording during a search of his home in October 2023.
Hamilton also acknowledged receiving and possessing explicit messages, images, and videos from two additional minor victims.

In addition to the prison term, Hamilton was ordered to serve 10 years of supervised release and pay $5,000 in restitution to one of the victims.
