Authorities in Atlantic County announced that on Tuesday, November 18, Daniel Zhang, 23, of Egg Harbor City, pleaded guilty to three counts of third-degree invasion of privacy, related to an incident that occurred on September 16, 2024, in Hamilton Township.

The defendant’s recommended sentence is five years of probation, 200 hours of community service, and a mental health and psycho-sexual evaluation, Atlantic County officials said.
ACPO officials say Zhang must comply with any and all recommendations of the evaluations and submit to random checks of his devices.
According to Atlantic County officials, on September 16, 2024, Hamilton Township Police responded to Planet Fitness for a report of a man, later identified as Zhang, using his phone to record another person, without consent, in the men’s restroom.
Upon arrival, Zhang spoke to officers and admitted to recording other men while they used the restroom at Planet Fitness and a local Wawa, ACPO authorities said.
Atlantic County officials stated that Zhang further admitted that he recorded the videos because he was sexually attracted to the victims.
An examination of Zhang’s phone revealed 49 videos of unidentified victims using the restroom, ACPO officials said.
All videos were recorded between May and September 2024, in Atlantic County and beyond, ACPO officials say.
Atlantic County officials said that Zhang is scheduled to appear before the Honorable Joseph Levin, J.S.C., on March 13, 2026, for sentencing.
