A man who walked into Newark’s 2nd Precinct early Sunday morning told police he had just been violently robbed on the city’s North Ward streets, prompting detectives to launch an investigation and seek the public’s help identifying two male suspects.

According to Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., the incident happened around 4:15 a.m. on October 19, 2025.

The victim, who was visibly injured, reported that he had been smoking a cigarette near Arlington Avenue and Summer Avenue when he was grabbed from behind by one man and struck several times in the stomach, chest, and head by two others.

The suspects reportedly took his cash, jewelry, and other personal items before fleeing the area.

Detectives have since obtained surveillance images of the suspects and are asking anyone who recognizes them to come forward.

Anyone with information about the suspects’ identities or the robbery is urged to call the Newark Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).
