A collision that resulted in the death of a female pedestrian in Ocean Township on Tuesday evening is under investigation, according to Monmouth County officials.
Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago stated that on November 4, at 5:36 p.m., members of the Ocean Township Police Department responded to the area of Route 35 and Sunset Avenue for a report of a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.
The investigation revealed that the female pedestrian was attempting to cross Sunset Avenue in an eastbound direction when a collision at the intersection of Route 35 occurred with a 2024 Infiniti SUV, which was traveling in the northbound lane, MCPO officials say.

The pedestrian, later identified as Amatullah B. Morejon, 26, was rushed to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where she was later pronounced deceased at 6:31 p.m., Monmouth County authorities say.
MCPO officials stated that the male driver remained on the scene.
According to Monmouth County officials, an investigation involving members of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART), and the Ocean Township Police Department remains active and ongoing.
