Authorities in Atlantic County announced that on Monday, November 3, Charles Scherer, 57, of Buena Vista Twp., was sentenced after having pleaded guilty to first-degree possession of LSD with the intent to distribute.
Pursuant to the terms of his plea agreement, Scherer was sentenced to a term of 10 years in New Jersey State Prison, ACPO officials say.
According to Atlantic County officials, on April 2, 2024, a suspicious package sent from the Netherlands was seized by the postal investigators.

Inside the package, investigators found 2,500 perforated tabs on blotter paper, which was later tested and confirmed to be LSD laced with MDMA, Atlantic County officials stated.
ACPO officials said that an undercover officer later delivered the package to Scherer’s home.
Scherer was seen opening the door, picking up the packaging, and bringing it inside his home, Atlantic County officials said.
Shortly thereafter, ACPO officials say, a search warrant was executed, and the package was found opened inside the home where Scherer resided alone.
