Today, voters throughout New Jersey head to the polls in a series of consequential elections, both statewide and local.

At the center of the action is the contest for governor, where contrasting endorsements and statewide dynamics have attracted national attention.
In the gubernatorial race, Democrat Mikie Sherrill, a U.S. Representative, has secured the endorsement of former President Barack Obama.
On the Republican side, former Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli has the backing of former President Donald Trump.
While New Jersey is traditionally considered a “blue state,” this wide-open gubernatorial contest has energized voters across party lines and turned the Garden State into much more than a footnote in national politics.
Locally, the municipality of Kearny, New Jersey is among those with key races today. Voters here will decide a new mayor and four town-council seats.
The stakes: how local policy will align with larger trends in taxes, development, and civic services.
Additionally, the local Republican Party has signalled its ambitions in Kearny as part of a broader strategy tied to the governor’s race.
Across New Jersey there are multiple legislative and statewide executive contests listed on the ballot.
While many races don’t always attract national headlines, they help determine everything from state budget direction to policy on education, infrastructure and public safety.
If you haven’t voted yet, the time to act is now. Polling places opened at 6 a.m.and will close at 8 p.m. local time (check your county for any variations).

Your ballot counts. These elections matter—for your community, for the state, and for a shifting national political landscape.
Take a moment, find your polling location, and cast your vote. Your voice can help shape New Jersey for years to come.
