Authorities are investigating a fatal stabbing that claimed the life of a man in Jersey City on Friday, October 24.

According to the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, Jersey City Police were called to the area of Jersey Avenue near 1st and Maxwell Streets shortly after 12:20 p.m. for reports of a stabbing.
Officers arrived to find a man suffering from a stab wound to the abdomen.
The victim was rushed to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 1 p.m.
Officials said the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of death and confirm the victim’s identity.
Investigators confirmed that a person of interest has been identified and remains in custody as the investigation continues.
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are handling the case.
