The Rahway Police Department is investigating a tragic shooting that left two women dead Friday evening at the Watt Hotel, Rahway, Tapestry Collection by Hilton.
Authorities said police and Rahway Fire Department crews responded to reports of gunfire at the hotel.
When officers arrived, they discovered two women with gunshot wounds to the head. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary findings indicate that one of the deaths may have been the result of a suicide, though investigators have not confirmed the exact circumstances.
The identities of the victims are being withheld pending notification of their families.
Detectives remained on site late Friday night, and the area surrounding the hotel was cordoned off as part of the active investigation.
Rahway Police said additional information will be released as the investigation continues. Anyone with information is urged to contact the department.
