Alpena, S.D. — LSI, Inc. has issued a nationwide recall of more than 2.2 million pounds of ready-to-eat pork jerky products after reports surfaced of metal pieces being found inside the snacks, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

The recall affects packages of Golden Island Fire-Grilled Pork Jerky, Korean Barbecue Recipe sold in 14.5-ounce and 16-ounce pouches.

The products carry establishment number “M279A” inside the USDA inspection mark and were shipped to Costco and Sam’s Club locations across the country.

The jerky, which has a one-year shelf life, includes “best by” dates ranging from October 23, 2025, through September 23, 2026.

A full list of lot codes and dates has been published by FSIS.

The issue was discovered after multiple customers reported finding wiry metal fragments in the product. LSI, Inc. traced the contamination back to a production conveyor belt.

While no confirmed injuries have been reported, FSIS advises anyone who may have eaten the jerky and is concerned about an injury to contact a healthcare professional.
