Suspects Wanted for Striking Victim in Head in Newark’s Ironbound Section

Newark authorities are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying two men wanted in connection with a violent assault that left a victim hospitalized earlier this week.

According to a statement released by Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., the incident occurred at approximately 4 a.m. on Monday, October 20,  along the 200 block of Ferry Street in the city’s Ironbound section.

 

Police said the male victim and a friend had stepped outside a nearby venue when they encountered two suspects who allegedly began making disparaging comments. 

The victim later approached the men inside a parking lot across the street, where one of the suspects shoved him to the ground.
 

Investigators reported that the second suspect then struck the victim in the head with a blunt object before fleeing the scene in a white vehicle.
 

The injured man managed to walk into the 3rd Precinct at 649 Market Street to seek help. 

EMS transported him to University Hospital, where he was treated and remains in stable condition.

Authorities have released photographs of the two suspects and are urging anyone with information about their identities to contact the Newark Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS.
