North Arlington police are investigating a frightening incident that unfolded just after midnight when residents on Third Street reported an attempted home invasion burglary.

Authorities said officers were dispatched to the neighborhood following a 911 call of a burglary in progress.

According to initial reports, a masked suspect dressed in all black forced entry into a home through a window. Once inside, the intruder was confronted by a resident.

Police believe the suspect, along with another male accomplice waiting outside, quickly fled the scene before taking anything.

Investigators suspect the break-in may have been an effort to steal a Range Rover that was parked in the driveway of the residence.

Neighbors described the event as alarming, especially given the timing in the middle of the night.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Detectives are canvassing the area for security footage and additional witnesses that could help identify the two individuals involved.

Officials urged residents to remain vigilant, secure their homes and vehicles, and immediately report any suspicious activity.

The case remains under active investigation by North Arlington police.
