My friends and family in Newark and the North Jersey region are waking up to a crisp, cool start this Tuesday morning, but forecasters say residents can look forward to one of the nicest days of the week.
As of 4:30 a.m., it was 54 degrees and breezy on Park Avenue in Newark — jacket weather for commuters heading to work or school.
After Monday’s wet conditions, the day is beginning much more comfortably, with clear skies and mild sunshine.

According to the National Weather Service, today will be sunny with a high near 68 degrees and a light south wind between 6 and 10 mph.
Showers are expected to return late tonight, mainly before 5 a.m. Wednesday, with overnight lows around 53 degrees and an 80% chance of rain.
For now, it’s a picture-perfect fall day across North Jersey — a welcome break before another round of showers moves in overnight.
