Newark authorities are asking for the community’s assistance in locating an elderly woman who was reported missing earlier this week.
According to a statement released by the Newark Police Department, 80-year-old Maria Celeste Marques was last seen around 5 p.m. on Monday, October 20, 2025, in the 300 block of Walnut Street.
Family members reported her missing and expressed concern because Ms. Marques suffers from dementia.
Police said she is described as Hispanic, approximately 5 feet tall and weighing about 120 pounds.
She has brown hair, brown eyes, and was last seen wearing eyeglasses, a light blue sweater, a brown and gray skirt, and blue-and-white shoes.
Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr. urged anyone with information that could help bring Ms. Marques home safely to contact the Newark Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477).
Authorities continue to investigate and are asking residents in the area to remain alert.
