Newark and much of North Jersey are waking up to wet conditions this Tuesday morning as heavy rain moved through the region early, but forecasters say skies will begin to clear before the morning commute ends.

As of 4:30 a.m., light rain was falling across downtown Newark, where temperatures hovered around 68 degrees.
The early-morning showers are expected to taper off by around 5:30 a.m., giving way to a breezy but mostly dry day ahead.
According to the National Weather Service, Monday will start with scattered showers, mainly before 8 a.m., followed by partly sunny skies and steady temperatures near 59 degrees.
Southwest winds between 11 and 17 mph could gust up to 29 mph, making for a brisk afternoon.
Tonight is expected to be mostly clear, with temperatures dropping to around 47 degrees.
After a pleasant Sunday, the workweek begins on a damp note, but residents can look forward to brighter and more comfortable conditions later in the day.
