Authorities are investigating a devastating multi-vehicle crash that claimed the lives of at least two people in North Jersey Sunday night, officials said.
According to preliminary reports, the collision occurred shortly before 9:20 p.m. on Ringwood Avenue.
Police and emergency responders rushed to the scene after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting a serious crash with injuries.
When crews arrived, they found a horrific scene involving at least three vehicles.
One car had overturned, while another was so severely mangled it appeared “crumpled like a piece of paper,” witnesses said.
The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office has taken the lead in the investigation as authorities work to determine what caused the deadly collision.
Additional details, including the identities of the victims and the cause of the crash, have not yet been released.
