NJ, there are some stories that remind us what courage looks like, even in the smallest among us.
One of those stories belongs to Sophia Alfano, a bright 3-year-old from Clark who is bravely battling Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
Sophia is full of life, curious, playful, and always ready with a smile that lights up the room.
But her illness has made the simplest joys more complicated. Because of her treatments, she can’t safely run to the local playground the way other children can.
For her parents, that reality is heartbreaking, knowing their little girl just wants to play like every other child.
This week, a little bit of joy was delivered right to Sophia’s backyard. Thanks to Cornerstone Building Brands and their partnership with Roc Solid Foundation, Sophia now has her own custom playset — a safe place to laugh, climb, and dream without limits.
Volunteers from Cornerstone’s New Brunswick facility spent the day creating a backyard space where Sophia can feel the freedom of being a child again.
What makes this moment even more special is that it’s part of something bigger.
This program is the largest initiative in Roc Solid Foundation’s 16-year history, with Cornerstone committing to donate 16 playsets in 15 communities across the country.
Each one is meant to give families battling childhood cancer a piece of normal life back, a reminder that they are not alone, and that hope is still stronger than fear.
For Sophia and her family, that reminder now lives right outside their door, a gift that will carry them through the hard days and keep joy alive in their hearts.
Here at RLS Media, we are keeping Sophia and her family in our prayers.
