DEVELOPING: Essex Prosecutor Investigating Body Found in Livingston

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office is leading an investigation after a body was discovered Tuesday morning off the main roadway and on the grounds of a country club in western Essex County.

Preliminary information police were called just before 9 a.m. to 100 Walnut Street, near Route 10, where officers found an unidentified individual unconscious and unresponsive. 

The person was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

Investigators have not yet released the cause or manner of death. The individual’s identity is also being withheld pending notification of family.

 

Livingston Police temporarily shut down a portion of Route 10 to Eisenhower Parkway while detectives and crime scene units worked at the scene.

 

According to the location’s webpage, Cedar Hill Golf & Country Club is a privately owned recreational facility that offers a range of social and athletic services.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.

 

UPDATE: The body has been identified as a woman, but the cause and manner of death are pending the result of the autopsy. The identity of the woman has not been confirmed. Additional information will be released when it becomes available.
