Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr. stated that at approximately 10:30 p.m., police Officers were on patrol in the area of Bradley Court, a public housing development on North Munn Avenue, when they heard possible shots being fired.

Police Officers responded to the complex and found Beard-Brown lying on the ground in the courtyard suffering from several gunshot wounds, according to Newark officials.

Officers rendered aid until the Emergency Medical Service arrived to transport him to University Hospital, Newark authorities say. Officers canvassed the area and located four 9mm shell casings, two live 9mm ballpoint rounds, and two projectiles.

Newark officials stated that detectives from the Major Crimes Shooting Response Team towed a vehicle connected to the shooting – a black Hyundai bearing temporary New Jersey registration (F397122).

Beard-Brown, a Black male, is 5’8” and 145 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair, Newark officials said.
