Vineland Man Charged After Allegedly Trying to Lure Minors Near School

A Vineland resident has been arrested after authorities say he attempted to lure minors to his vehicle while committing lewd acts near a local middle school.

According to a statement released by the Vineland Police Department, officers received several reports on the morning of September 29, 2025, of a man attempting to entice children on their way to school. 

 

The incidents happened within a few blocks of each other and in close proximity to Veteran’s Memorial Middle School.

 

The initial investigation uncovered three incidents involving four victims, including two juveniles. 

 

Police said further investigation revealed additional encounters and possible victims.
 

Detectives later identified the suspect as Rogelio Vega, 33, of Vineland, and determined the vehicle he allegedly used in the incidents. 

 

Vega was taken into custody and is now facing a long list of charges, including:

Two counts of luring and enticing a juvenile

Three counts of endangering the welfare of a child

Lewdness and criminal sexual contact charges

Weapons-related offenses, including unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of hollow-point ammunition, and possession of a defaced firearm with no serial number

Authorities said Vega is being held in custody pending further court proceedings.
