According to Union County officials, officers responded to Cedarbrook Park on June 20, 2025, following reports of a stabbing.

Investigators determined that the incident occurred in the parking lot of the Plainfield Village Apartments on Randolph Road, adjacent to Tëmike Park.

The victim, a juvenile, had sustained a knife wound to the face.

Detectives Roman and Gray of the Union County Police Investigations Division spearheaded a months-long probe that identified two juvenile suspects, both Plainfield residents alleged to be gang members tied to multiple incidents.

On September 23, 2025, one of the juveniles surrendered to authorities.

The suspect was arrested, charged, processed, and remanded to the Essex County Juvenile Detention Center pending a Superior Court hearing.

Charges filed in the case include second-degree aggravated assault, third-degree aggravated assault with a weapon, third-degree possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, and fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon.
