Police Investigating Armed Carjacking Near Rutgers Douglass Campus

Authorities are investigating an armed carjacking that took place near Rutgers University’s Douglass Campus early Monday morning in New Brunswick.

According to Rutgers police, four suspects approached a driver at the intersection of Nichol Avenue and Sandford Street around 12:50 a.m. 

 

The group displayed a weapon, ordered the driver out of the vehicle, and fled the scene in the stolen car.
 

Police later located the vehicle abandoned and unoccupied a short time after the incident.
 

Officials confirmed that the victim, who is not affiliated with Rutgers as a student or employee, was unharmed.
 

The carjacking occurred just steps from the Douglass Campus, prompting a joint response between Rutgers and New Brunswick police. 

The New Brunswick Police Department is leading the investigation but has not released further details about the suspects.
