Jersey City Man Fatally Shot Early Sunday Morning

Authorities are investigating a deadly shooting that claimed the life of a Jersey City man early Sunday.

According to information released by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department, officers were called just after 5 a.m. on September 28 to the area of Union Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive following reports of gunfire.

 

At the scene, officers found 27-year-old Jamaal George of Jersey City suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body. 

 

He was rushed to Jersey City Medical Center, where doctors pronounced him dead shortly after 5:30 a.m.

 

The cause and manner of death will be determined by the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

 

No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
