Jason Blount, 25, was found guilty of multiple offenses, including fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, third-degree criminal restraint, third-degree terroristic threats, and the disorderly persons offense of simple assault.

Assistant Prosecutors Sean Bradley and Shelby Day tried the case before Superior Court Judge Kevin P. Barry, J.S.C.

On September 18, 2025, following a three-day trial, jurors determined that Blount restrained, assaulted, and threatened to kill the victim on October 8, 2023.

“This verdict sends a clear message that domestic violence will not be tolerated. As a result of the victim’s courage, justice was served,” Assistant Prosecutor Bradley said.

Day added, “I want to thank the victim and her family for having the strength to come forward and tell their story. Hopefully, the verdict will provide some closure, and they can move on to the next chapter of their lives.”

Investigators from the Glen Ridge Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office were commended for their efforts in the case.
