A parent threatened to hurt kids Thursday afternoon at a Newark school, prompting a swift police response and a temporary lockdown.

According to information sent by the Newark Police Department, officers were called to Luis Muñoz Marín Elementary School on Broadway at around 1:51 p.m. after reports that a parent had made threats to harm his own children, who attend the school.
Authorities confirmed the man was quickly taken into custody as part of their ongoing investigation.
No injuries were reported during the incident.
School officials initiated a lockdown as a precaution while police secured the area.
That lockdown has since been lifted, and normal school activities have resumed.

Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda said the investigation remains active as officers work to determine the full circumstances
surrounding the threats.
