Township police are investigating a series of theft incidents, including stolen packages from a residential building and two shoplifting cases at a local CVS store, according to a statement released by Montclair Police.

On September 9, 2025, authorities said an individual entered the mailroom of an Orange Road apartment complex and removed the contents of several delivered packages.

Surveillance video showed the man lingering outside the building until a resident left, allowing him to slip inside.

Once in the mailroom, he opened three packages and walked off with the items. The suspect was described as a bald Black male, about 5’10” tall, in his thirties, with a black beard.

He was last seen heading north on Orange Road toward Bloomfield Avenue.

Just one day later, on September 10, police were alerted to a theft at the CVS store on Claremont Avenue. Employees reported that a repeat shoplifter entered the store around 9:24 p.m. and remained inside for about 10 minutes.

At 9:34 p.m., the suspect began removing deodorant from the shelves, concealing the items in his pants and a bag. He continued filling the bag until about 9:41 p.m. before leaving the store with roughly $1,500 worth of merchandise.

Police described the suspect as a Black male wearing a blue flannel shirt, jeans, white shoes, and a black hat.

On September 13, 2025, the same CVS location was struck again. This time, a suspect took approximately $240 worth of vitamins.

According to police, he was seen wearing a black shirt, black hat, light-colored jeans, and white sneakers while carrying a blue bag slung across his torso.

Authorities are actively investigating the incidents.
