A violent collision on the New Jersey Turnpike claimed the life of a Pennsylvania man early Sunday morning, according to a statement released by the New Jersey State Police.
Troopers were dispatched shortly before 4 a.m. to the southbound outer roadway near milepost 84.6 in Edison, where a Harley Davidson motorcycle and a GMC cargo van were involved in a deadly crash.
Preliminary findings indicate that the motorcycle, operated by a 39-year-old man from Bristol, Pennsylvania, struck the rear of the GMC.
The force of the impact caused the rider to be ejected from the bike, resulting in fatal injuries at the scene.
Authorities said the identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of family members.
The New Jersey State Police confirmed that the crash remains under investigation, and no further details were immediately available.
