Motorcyclist Killed in Early Morning Crash on NJ Turnpike in Edison

A motorcyclist was fatally injured in a violent crash on the New Jersey Turnpike early Sunday morning, prompting temporary lane closures in Middlesex County.According to preliminary information from the New Jersey State Police, the incident occurred around 4:00 a.m. in the southbound lanes near mile marker 84.6 in Edison. 

When troopers arrived, they discovered the rider had been ejected from the motorcycle and was suffering from severe injuries. 

The individual, whose identity has not yet been released, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities closed off a portion of the Turnpike in the area to allow for a full investigation, which led to some traffic delays during the early morning commute. 

No other injuries were reported, and it remains unclear what caused the crash.

The New Jersey State Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal wreck.
