A late-night mystery has sparked curiosity and concern in Ocean County after several residents reported witnessing what they described as an unidentified flying object hovering over the bay in Seaside Heights on Tuesday night.
According to preliminary reports, the glowing object appeared around 11:30 p.m., remaining in place for a significant amount of time before disappearing from sight.
Witnesses quickly took to social media and notified local police, sharing images and videos of the incident and speculating about its origin.
Seaside Heights Police confirmed they received several calls and are now investigating the sighting.
As of early Wednesday morning, authorities have not identified the object or issued an official explanation.
One popular theory among residents suggests a SpaceX rocket launch may have caused the phenomenon, though officials have not verified that claim.
