Hasbrouck Heights may have experienced a literal shake-up recently, but it turns out the tremors weren’t the only thing rocking the town.
A lucky player snagged a $1 million Powerball ticket at the Mini Mart on 335 Boulevard, just days after a small earthquake rattled the area.
Locals are joking that the quake might have jostled some extra good fortune into the borough.
The winning numbers for Monday night’s drawing were 06, 16, 33, 40 and 62, with the Powerball number 02 and a multiplier of 02. The prize marks New Jersey’s second $1 million Powerball win in a week and the fourth this year.
The luck didn’t stop there in NJ.
In the Double Play drawing, a separate round for players who opt into the feature, a Union County resident matched four white balls plus the Double Play ball (numbers 09, 10, 17, 29, 65, with the Double Play ball 05) to win $50,000.
That winning ticket was sold at BK One Stop Shop in Roselle.
The Garden State has been riding a hot streak in recent weeks. Two drawings last week alone produced a $1 million winner, two $100,000 winners, and three $50,000 winners.
The Powerball jackpot is now inching close to its 2025 high of $526.5 million. So far this year, four jackpots have been claimed nationwide:
• Jan. 18: $328.5 million (Oregon)
• March 29: $526.5 million (California)
• April 26: $167.3 million (Kentucky)
• May 31: $204.5 million (California)

While seismologists study the ground, some Hasbrouck Heights residents are now studying lottery numbers, hoping the next shake-up comes from a jackpot alert rather than Mother Nature.
